The Environmental Nature Center was founded in 1972. Most students simply refer to it as The ENC. It consists of 15 California walking trails, native plant communities, wildlife habitats and much more.

Over the last 35 years this center has been shaped and molded into an amazing 3.5 acre landscape that provides students with a place to learn as well as a place to get away from the pressures of life.

Every year The ENC serves over 20,000 students. When it comes to social science education they are considered a leader. Their mission is simply to provide quality education through hands on experience. Their vision is to inspire all people from all walks of life to take care of the natural world we have been blessed with.

They operate based on 4 core values: respect, responsibility, dedication and integrity. Any person who comes to the center will be treated with respect. In turn they hope to instill a level of respect for the environment. They believe in accepting personal responsibility for the natural environment and being good stewards over the resources that have been provided us.

Dedication is equally as important. They are dedicated to the environment and preserving it. They do this through hands on work and educational messages. Last but not least is integrity. They make sure their actions always match up with their words.
